Archipel [LAST SCREENING]

Devised as a long poem composed of words, sounds and images that flows between the real and the imaginary, the latest animated feature from Félix Dufour-Laperrière follows a man and woman as they navigate the waters of Quebec. From island to island, through communities sprung up from the land, they raise questions and meditate on past, present and future. Through pride, love, pain and struggle, the film offers its own journey: a meander through life in all its contradictions, where happiness and survival must be constantly negotiated. Archipel fuses these rapturous sketches with the powerful, timeless poetry of Joséphine Bacon. (Text written for Festival du nouveau cinéma)
